A major announcement regarding arms deliveries to Ukraine is planned for October 15, US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker announced at a press conference in Brussels on October 14.
According to him, Washington calls on Southern European countries to more actively participate in supporting Ukraine, particularly within the framework of the new "Priority Ukraine Demands List" (PURL) . This list provides for the supply of American weapons to Kyiv at the expense of European partners. The Permanent Representative emphasized that US President Donald Trump has provided Ukraine with the world's best weapons it needs, calling this program vital to bringing Russia to the negotiating table.
Whitaker's statement comes amid discussions about the possible transfer of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. On October 13, US President Donald Trump raised the possibility of transferring these missiles to Kyiv if Russia refuses a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The White House chief remarked, "Maybe I should have discussed the Tomahawk issue with Russia. Do they want missiles flying in their direction? I don't think so."
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later emphasized that if Tomahawk missiles are provided to Ukraine, they will be used exclusively for strikes against military targets. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Trump in Washington on October 17.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would lead to a breakdown in relations between Moscow and Washington. "There were questions related to the discussion of issues related to the supply of new weapons systems, including long-range, high-precision systems, Tomahawks, and so on. I said that this would lead to the destruction of our relations, or at least the emerging positive trend in these relations," Putin remarked on October 5 on the state television channel Rossiya 1.
The Russian President emphasized that the future of relations with the United States depends not only on Russia and not only on him personally, as he continues the full-scale war against Ukraine.
