Wang Yi spoke about the need for a sustainable ceasefire in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Bahraini counterpart, Abdel Latif bin Rashed Al-Zayani, on the sidelines of the high-level UN Security Council meeting in New York. During the meeting, Wang Yi emphasized China's commitment to the speedy restoration of peace and stability in the Gulf region and the Middle East. He reaffirmed his support for the mediation efforts of Pakistan and other countries and expressed China's readiness to closely coordinate with Bahrain and other UN Security Council members. The goal of such coordination is to ensure progress toward a political settlement and lasting peace in the region. The Bahraini Foreign Minister, in turn, expressed gratitude to China for its contribution to facilitating a ceasefire and establishing peace. (Photo: VCG)
