On May 26, 2026, in Dushanbe, on the sidelines of the Fourth International High-Level Conference within the framework of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028," a conversation took place between the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, the SCO press service reported.

The parties noted the SCO's contribution to ensuring regional stability and security amid a complex international environment and worsening crisis trends affecting the Organization's space. The parties agreed that the SCO has ample opportunities to adequately and promptly respond to existing challenges and actively participate in shaping a new multipolar world order.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the Bishkek Summit, improving SCO activities, and deepening cooperation in the economic, transport, and logistics sectors, as well as cultural and humanitarian affairs. The established close dialogue between the Secretariat's leadership and the Tajik side, Dushanbe's active participation in shaping the Organization's agenda, and its constructive position across the entire spectrum of cooperation areas were noted with satisfaction. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan noted the Secretariat's important role in the Organization's activities.
The negotiations took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
