On May 26, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua at the 4th High-Level International Conference on the Decade of International Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028," the presidential press service reported.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state expressed gratitude to Li Junhua, co-chair of the Dushanbe Water Process, for his visit to Tajikistan, active participation in this conference, and for his ongoing significant contribution to this process.



During the conversation, issues of fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and the UN, in particular with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, on the topics of water and climate, glacier conservation, and disaster prevention and mitigation were discussed.
A useful exchange of views took place on the implementation of the outcomes of previous events in the field of water, climate and sustainable development, the successful holding of the current conference, as well as preparations for other international events in this area this year and in 2028.
The parties highlighted the activities of the International Trust Fund for Glacier Conservation, established at the initiative of Tajikistan, and expressed confidence that the global community and international organizations will make a significant contribution to strengthening its capabilities.
A constructive dialogue also took place on maintaining the active work of the Group of Friends of Water and Glaciers in New York and other instruments for developing cooperation at the global level.
