In Dushanbe, Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, met with Iran's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic, Alirizo Hakikion, to discuss expanding cooperation in freight transportation, NIAT Khovar reports, citing the Tajikistan Ministry of Transport.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation in the transport sector and prospects for its further development.
It was noted that trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran in 2025 increased by 28 percent compared to 2024, and in the first three months of 2026 by 50 percent compared to the same period last year.
The Minister of Transport emphasized that Iran remains one of Tajikistan's key and reliable economic partners. He expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation and noted the need to accelerate the implementation of previously reached agreements and further expand cooperation.
In turn, the Iranian ambassador stated that, despite the current situation in the Middle East, relations between the two countries will continue to develop and strengthen. He also expressed gratitude to the state and people of Tajikistan for their solidarity.
