The United States and Iran are discussing a second round of talks aimed at reaching an agreement to resolve the Iranian conflict, the Associated Press reported, citing informed sources.
According to the agency's sources, the exact location and time of the meeting have not yet been determined, but talks could take place on Thursday, April 16. The Pakistani capital, Islamabad, is once again being considered as a possible venue. Geneva is also mentioned as an option.
Earlier, The Atlantic journalist Arash Azizi reported, citing a source in Tehran, that the next round of direct talks between Iran and the US could take place in Islamabad.
Direct talks between the two countries took place in Pakistan over the weekend. Following these talks, US President Donald Trump stated that Washington had failed to reach an agreement with Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program. He also noted that Iran had failed to fulfill its promise to unblock the Strait of Hormuz and added that the US intends to impose a naval blockade on the country.
In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the parties were close to reaching an agreement, but an agreement was not reached due to excessive demands and changes in conditions from Washington.
