On the night of May 28, Russian forces continued their attacks on Ukrainian territory, using Kinzhal air-to-air ballistic missiles and attack drones. In the Sumy region, two civilians were killed in a Russian drone attack. According to the regional prosecutor's office, at approximately 8:00 AM, the drone struck a man and a woman traveling along a dirt road in the Velykopisarevskaya community of the Akhtyrsky district. Three people were injured in Russian attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region. One of the injured was hospitalized in moderate condition, while two others—a 69-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man—will undergo outpatient treatment.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, two women, aged 58 and 65, were injured as a result of shelling. Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional military administration, reported that Russian troops struck 40 settlements in the region over the past 24 hours. He added that 48 reports of damage to infrastructure and residential buildings were received.
In the Kharkiv region, two men, aged 62 and 54, were injured. Oleg Sinegubov, head of the regional military administration, reported that the attacks damaged residential buildings, garages, cars, and civilian infrastructure.
