Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev and Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin met in Dushanbe on the sidelines of the Fourth High-Level International Conference within the framework of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028," the SCO press service reported.

During the conversation, the parties noted the SCO's contribution to ensuring regional stability and security amid a complex international situation and growing crisis trends affecting the Organization's space.
The interlocutors emphasized that the SCO has broad capabilities for a timely and adequate response to existing challenges, and can also play an active role in shaping a new architecture for a multipolar world order.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming summit in Bishkek, improving the SCO's activities, and developing cooperation in the economic, transport, logistics, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The parties noted with satisfaction the established close dialogue between the leadership of the SCO Secretariat and the Tajik side, as well as Dushanbe's active participation in shaping the Organization's agenda and Tajikistan's constructive position on key areas of cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan emphasized the important role of the Secretariat in the activities of the SCO.
The negotiations took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
