A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the monument to fallen Kazakh peacekeepers in the capital of Tajikistan. The event, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took place in Firdavsi Park.
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan, Valikhan Amirkhanovich Turikhanov, representatives of the Union of Internationalist Soldiers, as well as the leadership and veterans of the Border Service, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.

Participants honored the memory of Kazakhstani servicemen who died during peacekeeping missions on the Tajik-Afghan border in the 1990s. Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the Kazakh ambassador, in his speech, commended the courage and dedication of Kazakhstani soldiers who contributed to ensuring stability in the region during the difficult period of the civil war in Tajikistan.
As the diplomat recalled, on April 7, 1995, in the Pshikhavr Gorge of the Darvaz District, Kazakhstan's 7th Composite Company was ambushed. The protracted battle left 17 soldiers killed and more than a dozen wounded.

During the ceremony, it was also emphasized that Kazakhstan's participation in collective peacekeeping efforts within the CIS was organized in accordance with the January 1993 agreement on joint protection of the Tajik-Afghan border. A combined battalion, formed from servicemen of the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Defense, and the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, carried out combat missions for eight years. During the mission, 43 servicemen were killed and over 100 were wounded.
The names of the fallen soldiers, including Yerken Baigobisov, Baurzhan Dalabayev, Imatdin Zhumatov, Takhir Rakhimzhanov, and others, were read at the ceremony. All of them were posthumously awarded high state and departmental awards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

Memorials to the soldiers who fell on Tajik soil have been erected in Shymkent, Darvaza, and Astana. In 2009, the documentary film "Kazbat" by director Rustam Odinayev was released, dedicated to the heroism of Kazakhstani peacekeepers.
Representatives of Tajikistan speaking at the ceremony expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Kazakh military for their contribution to maintaining peace and stability in their fraternal country.
