The event was organized by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, CARICC, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Along with the SCO Secretariat, the meeting was attended by high-level representatives of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), and other international and regional organizations.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on countering the drug threat in Central Asia. Participants discussed opportunities to strengthen coordination between international and regional organizations in combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors. Particular attention was paid to the potential of the newly established SCO Anti-Drug Center, which is intended to become a key mechanism for coordinating the efforts of member states in combating drug-related crime.
SCO Deputy Secretary-General Akhmad Saidmurodzoda emphasized the importance of joint work between Central Asian states and international organizations in countering the spread of narcotics, noting the need to intensify information exchange, joint operations, and the development of effective strategies to prevent and combat drug-related crime.
The parties also discussed personnel training, exchange of experience, and the implementation of best practices in countering drug threats, as well as the possibility of integrating the activities of the SCO regional anti-drug center with the existing structures of CARICC and UNP.
The event became an important platform for coordinating regional efforts, exchanging analytical information, and strengthening cooperation in combating the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors in Central Asia.
