On the night of Friday, October 10, Russian troops launched massive drone and ballistic missile strikes on Ukrainian territory, the Kyiv City State Administration press service and regional authorities reported.
At least nine people were injured in the attacks in Kyiv, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. A multi-story residential building in the Pechersky district of Kyiv was damaged: fire engulfed the sixth and seventh floors of the 17-story building. Apartments were damaged, and evacuation efforts are underway, according to Kyiv Regional Military Administration Chief Timur Tkachenko.
"The enemy is striking the city's critical infrastructure," Klitschko noted. The attacks resulted in power outages on Kyiv's left bank, and water supply disruptions were also reported.
Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Grinchuk reported that Russia is deliberately targeting energy infrastructure. "As soon as security conditions permit, energy officials will begin assessing the impact of the attack and carrying out restoration work," she emphasized.
Russian troops also attacked the Zaporizhzhia region , with at least three strikes hitting the city of Zaporizhzhia. A seven-year-old child died in a local hospital as a result of the shelling, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration. "Medics fought to the last to save the child's life, but the injuries were too severe," he added.
Large-scale strikes by the Russian army are causing significant damage to civilian infrastructure, causing casualties and the destruction of residential buildings, as well as power outages and water supply disruptions in Ukrainian cities.
Experts emphasize that attacks on civilian infrastructure violate international norms and threaten the safety of civilians. Ukrainian authorities continue to document the aftermath of the strikes and provide medical assistance to the victims.
