A military plane carrying a large amount of cash crashed in Bolivia. Fifteen people were killed in the crash, with initial reports of 12 injuries.
According to the Unitel television channel, the plane crash occurred in the city of El Alto, near the local airport. The plane's destruction resulted in hundreds of thousands of banknotes spilling out.
Nearby residents began collecting scattered bolivianos, the local currency. Security forces had to disperse them with water cannons to allow emergency services access to the scene.
El Deber reports that the plane belonged to the Bolivian Air Force. During takeoff, a malfunction occurred, causing the aircraft to roll onto a highway.
There, a Hercules aircraft collided with several cars at high speed, resulting in its complete destruction. Additionally, 15 other vehicles were damaged.
It was also reported that the crowd that gathered at the scene attacked Bolivian law enforcement officers who were preventing the collection of funds.
