Tajikistan is developing a "Strategy for the Development of the Communications Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040." In his address to the Majlisi Oli, President Emomali Rahmon instructed the Communications Service under the Government to prepare a draft document and submit it to the government for review. This step is part of the "Years of Digital Economy and Innovation Development" initiative and is based on the state's strategic goals, according to the Communications Service of Tajikistan.
According to the Communications Service, the draft strategy has already been developed and is being coordinated with the relevant ministries and agencies. In accordance with the President's instructions, infrastructure is being modernized and the quality of services is being improved to meet growing customer needs and bring the communications industry into line with international standards.
The President emphasized that the rapid development of digital technologies and the expansion of artificial intelligence capabilities require their effective application in all areas of activity, turning them into an additional source of economic growth and services exports.
The Communications Service has implemented electronic documentation using digital signatures, which helps reduce costs, streamline management processes, and increase control, accountability, and transparency. Government services are being fully digitalized, a unified service registry is being created, and all types of payments are being digitized.
Particular attention is being paid to the use of information and communications technology and artificial intelligence in management, services, and manufacturing. Currently, 70 5G base stations have been installed in Dushanbe, three in Khujand, and two in Bokhtar; by the end of the year, this number is planned to increase to 86. Mobile internet is also planned to transition to 4G and 5G standards across all regions of the country, and fixed-line internet access is expected to reach 80% within three years.
According to the "Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Tajikistan until 2040," digitalization of the communications industry is a priority and encompasses all structures of the Communications Service. Operators and providers are implementing artificial intelligence capabilities and educating the public about its benefits.
To ensure cybersecurity in data centers, specialized software is being installed, and monitoring and analysis will be conducted using modern technical and technological means.
The Communications Service's management noted that the President's Address is the main guideline for state policy in the area of communications development, and all available resources will be used to achieve these goals.
