Faizali Idizoda, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Tatyana Moskalkova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the lower house of the Tajik parliament.
During the talks, the parties discussed issues related to protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, exchanging experience between the ombudsman institutions of the two countries, and strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian and legal spheres.
Faizali Idizoda noted that the creation of a universal institution for the protection of human rights and freedoms, such as the Ombudsman, testifies to the sustainable democratic development of states and the strengthening of the principles of the rule of law.
"The Ombudsman's work in Tajikistan is aimed at strengthening constitutional guarantees of state protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, as well as promoting their practical observance," the head of parliament emphasized.
He recalled that the institution of the Human Rights Commissioner was established in Tajikistan in 2008 and has since become an important instrument of legal reform. Furthermore, the country has a successfully functioning institution of the Children's Rights Commissioner, whose activities contribute to protecting the interests of minors, strengthening the legal culture, and developing the social protection system.
Faizali Idizoda noted that the effective work of parliaments and ombudsmen plays a significant role in developing strategic partnerships between states. He emphasized the importance of interaction between legislative bodies, industry agencies, and human rights institutions to further strengthen bilateral relations.
"The development and strengthening of strategic relations between Tajikistan and Russia largely depends on the work of parliaments, cooperation between relevant agencies, and the effective implementation of international obligations. The Parliament of Tajikistan makes a significant contribution to the development of interstate cooperation and legal interaction," noted the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
In turn, Tatyana Moskalkova expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the importance of systematically exchanging experiences between human rights institutions in Russia and Tajikistan. She stated that the development of legal mechanisms for protecting individuals, including at the level of public and parliamentary bodies, contributes to the strengthening of democratic principles and humanistic values in society.
The parties expressed their willingness to continue the dialogue and implement joint initiatives aimed at increasing legal literacy among the population, protecting socially vulnerable groups of citizens, and improving human rights protection mechanisms.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral cooperation in the field of human rights, intensifying contacts between parliaments, and exchanging experience on legislation related to human rights and freedoms.
