On October 13, an official delegation of Tajikistan, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Kholiqzoda Hokim, met with Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva as part of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, taking place in Washington, USA.
The Tajik delegation also included the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Tolibzoda, and the Republic's Permanent Representative to the IMF and the World Bank, Payrav Amirzoda.
At the meeting, Kholiqzoda Hokim conveyed greetings and best wishes from the Tajik government to the IMF leadership, emphasizing satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation. He noted that, thanks to the support of the IMF and other international partners, the country's economy has demonstrated positive trends in recent years, and macroeconomic indicators remain stable despite external challenges.
The parties discussed key issues related to Tajikistan's economic development, including the effective implementation of the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI), expanding financial support opportunities through IMF mechanisms, and strengthening the capacity of government agencies. Particular attention was paid to human capital development, including engaging young professionals in IMF training programs, as well as the implementation of digital technologies and modern financial system management.
IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva praised the Fund's cooperation with Tajikistan and confirmed the Fund's readiness to continue supporting economic reforms, increasing the country's financial potential, and facilitating the implementation of sustainable socioeconomic development programs.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to continue mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at strengthening economic stability and increasing the sustainability of the Tajik economy.
