Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received the heads of delegations from the prosecutor general's offices of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states at the Palace of the Nation. They arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the 35th meeting of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General.
The head of state emphasized that holding the next Council meeting during Tajikistan's chairmanship of the CIS is particularly significant in light of the organization's 30th anniversary. Emomali Rahmon noted the important role of prosecutorial authorities in strengthening the rule of law and maintaining law and order, and emphasized that over the past three decades, CIS countries have built a reliable system of cooperation in combating crime.
The President expressed satisfaction with the positive results of the recent meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council and the Central Asia–Russia Summit. He emphasized that the meeting adopted a three-year Cooperation Program for CIS Member States in Countering Terrorism and Extremism for 2026–2028, the implementation of which will contribute to strengthening peace, stability, and security in the region.
The head of state defined the important role of the prosecutor's office in this context as key to strengthening the legal framework for interstate relations and coordinating the activities of law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime, including corruption, extremism, and terrorism.
It was noted that the Republic of Tajikistan is an active supporter of international and regional efforts to combat terrorism and other threats, while emphasizing the need to strengthen cooperation between prosecutorial authorities within the CIS and other international structures to combat transnational organized crime.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of adopting and implementing mutually agreed joint measures to combat cybercrime, including the use of modern software and artificial intelligence by terrorist and extremist groups to achieve their criminal goals.
At the end of the meeting, confidence was expressed that the results of the 35th meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General will contribute to the expansion of fruitful cooperation and the effective exchange of experience between the CIS countries.
