On the night of October 29, Ukrainian drones launched a massive attack on more than ten Russian regions. In the Ulyanovsk region, drones were shot down in the Novospassky district, according to regional governor Alexey Russkikh. "There are no casualties. Emergency services are working at the site of the debris fall," Russkikh wrote on his Telegram channel. He also noted that he held a meeting with officials "on emergency prevention and response," but did not elaborate on the attack's consequences. According to Astra, the drones targeted the NS-Oil oil refinery in the village of Novospassky. According to publicly available information, the refinery processes up to 30,000 tons of oil per year.
Drones also attacked the Mari El Republic, according to reports and videos from local residents on social media. Regional authorities have not officially commented on the drone strike. According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Exilenova+, the strike targeted the Mari El Oil Refinery in the village of Tabashino. The refinery produces straight-run gasoline, diesel and marine fuels, fuel oil, and other petroleum products. Its annual capacity is 1.6 million tons. The refinery is one of the largest enterprises in Mari El and accounts for up to 70% of the republic's foreign trade turnover.
In the Stavropol Krai, Ukrainian drones attacked an industrial zone in Budyonnovsk, regional Governor Vladimir Vladimirov reported. "The enemy UAVs were neutralized using electronic warfare and air defense systems. The attack did not cause significant damage, and casualties and destruction were avoided," Vladimirov wrote on Telegram. According to Astra, the strike targeted Stavrolen LLC, a Lukoil-owned enterprise. It is one of Russia's leading polyethylene and polypropylene producers. The company ranked third in the "100 Largest Companies in the North Caucasus Federal District by Sales Volume in 2021" ranking. The plant produces approximately 340,000 tons of ethylene, 319,000 tons of polyethylene, and 113,000 tons of polypropylene annually.
Furthermore, for the third night in a row, drones were shot down while approaching Moscow, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported. This time, there were four drones. "Emergency services are working at the site of the crash," the mayor noted on Telegram. Due to the latest drone strike, Sheremetyevo, Zhukovsky, and Domodedovo airports were temporarily closed.
According to a Ministry of Defense report , air defense assets "intercepted and destroyed" 100 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight. The largest number—46—were shot down over the Bryansk region. Four drones were shot down over the Ulyanovsk region, three over the Mari El Republic, and two over the Stavropol region. Smolensk, Tula, Kursk, Oryol, Belgorod, Kaluga, and Moscow regions, Krasnodar Krai, and occupied Crimea were also attacked.
In addition to the capital's airports, according to Rosaviatsia, air hubs in Saratov, Gelendzhik, Penza, Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Samara, Krasnodar, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, and Cheboksary have suspended operations.
