Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting on the sidelines of the Collective Security Treaty Organization summit, during which they discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
Putin noted that interaction between Moscow and Dushanbe is developing in accordance with planned schedules.
"Overall, everything is proceeding according to our plans and in a coordinated manner. Everything is moving forward. The governments are working on all priority areas," the Russian leader stated.
He emphasized that the intelligence and security services of Russia and Tajikistan maintain close cooperation on regional security issues. Putin also invited Emomali Rahmon to an informal summit of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg.
"We'll put together a good program; you'll see it related to each of the republics. We've preserved much of cultural and historical value from the Soviet era. I'm sure you'll find it interesting to explore," the Russian president said.
The President of Tajikistan accepted the invitation and highly praised the level of relations between the two countries.
"There are no unresolved issues between our countries; everything is going according to plan," the head of Tajikistan noted.
According to him, trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan has increased by almost 20% compared to last year.
