Over the first ten months of this year, more than 115 cases of hookah and e-cigarette use by minors have been identified in the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, according to the press service of the Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, the observed increase in tobacco consumption, particularly hookah and e-cigarette use among adolescents, is an extremely negative phenomenon. Police officers note that this could lead to serious and difficult-to-treat illnesses in consumers.
Despite constant warnings and raids and monitoring activities, cases of adolescent use of such substances are recorded daily. Specifically, more than 115 cases of hookah and various types of e-cigarette use have been identified in educational institutions and their surrounding areas.
Administrative reports are filed against parents of minors under Article 90 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan, and legally prescribed measures are also applied. However, analyses show that this negative phenomenon continues to increase.
The Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs once again calls on all citizens, parents, community activists, education workers, and members of the public to ensure constant monitoring of adolescent behavior and to more actively engage them in education, sports, and other beneficial activities.
