Russian Cinema Days are taking place in Dushanbe as part of the Toji Somon International Film Festival, according to the Tajikfilm State Film Agency.
A screening of Russian feature films will take place at the Navruz Cinema. Audiences will be treated to films from recent years, including "The Captain's Daughter" (2025), "Hold on to the Sun" (2024), "Philip's Rules" (2024), and "The Postman" (2025).
This year, representatives from 20 countries are participating in the film festival. Competition films will be screened from October 16th to 19th in cinemas across Dushanbe, the Sughd and Khatlon regions, and the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. A total of 16 feature films and 20 short films will be submitted to the jury for consideration.
According to the organizers, the previous film festival in Dushanbe generated considerable interest not only among industry professionals but also among young talents who expressed a desire to pursue a career in cinema.
It is noted that 15 students from Tajikistan have been selected to study at the VGIK acting workshop under a Russian government quota.
Additionally, on October 17, an open creative meeting was held in Dushanbe with actors Dmitry Astrakhan and Farkhad Makhmudov, and cinematographer Yuri Lyubshin, where issues of acting, film production, and the exchange of experience between Tajik and Russian specialists were discussed.
