Russian Railways (RZD) has reopened a direct train between Moscow and Dushanbe after a six-year hiatus. It will run every two weeks starting June 21, the holding company announced, according to TASS.
"At the request of the railway administration of the Republic of Tajikistan and with the agreement of the railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, direct rail service between Moscow and Dushanbe has been restored," the statement said.
Direct passenger rail service between Dushanbe and Moscow was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
From Dushanbe, train #423/424 will depart on Sundays starting June 21 at 3:25 AM (local time) and arrive in Moscow (Paveletsky Station) on Wednesdays at 10:08 PM Moscow time. From Moscow (Paveletsky Station) – on Thursdays starting June 25 at 6:05 AM Moscow time and arrive in Dushanbe on Mondays at 2:48 AM (local time).
The train will pass through the territories of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia.
The train consists of compartment and compartment cars, and the journey takes approximately four days. Travel documents can be purchased up to 45 days before departure. Tickets from Dushanbe are already on sale, and tickets from Moscow will open soon.
