On October 14, 2025, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation and with the support of the All-Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov (VGIK), a scientific and cultural event dedicated to the 2550th anniversary of Cyrus the Great's Declaration of Human Rights was held in Moscow. This was reported by the Embassy of Tajikistan in Russia.
The event was attended by representatives of relevant Russian Federation agencies, the diplomatic corps, scientific and cultural circles, teachers and students, as well as representatives of the media and the Tajik diaspora living in Russia.
An exhibition featuring fresh Tajik fruits, folk crafts, and books and publications from Tajikistan and Iran was held in the foyer of the VGIK main building. Among the exhibits, particularly noteworthy were "Shahnameh" (The Book of Kings) by Abdulkosim Firdavsi and "The Tajiks" by Bobojon Gafurov, as well as a collection of films from the Tajikfilm studio's collection. The exhibition was organized by the Tajik Cultural Center.
In his speech, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda emphasized the historical and legal significance of the Declaration of Cyrus the Great as the first document in human history dedicated to human rights. He noted that the fundamental principles of democracy, justice, human rights protection, and public administration enshrined in this document have had a significant impact on the development of world civilization and form the foundation of the modern legal system, including international law.
Welcoming remarks were also given by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Qasem Jalali, the Rector of VGIK, Vladimir Malyshev, and the Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Lana Ravandi-Fadai.
The event's cultural program included a reading of the epic poem "Shahnameh," recitations of poems about Cyrus the Great in Tajik and Russian, and performances by renowned Tajik artists Nohid Zainalpur and Hasan Haidar, along with the Sonata dance group. The audience was particularly drawn to the theatrical production "Cyrus the Great," prepared by VGIK students, including Tajik students, under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia Farhad Makhmudov.
The event contributed to the strengthening of cultural ties and mutual understanding between peoples, deepening interest in the history and spiritual heritage of the Tajik and Persian peoples, and perpetuating the role of Cyrus the Great in human history.
At the end of the meeting, participants were presented with symbolic gifts: fresh fruit from Tajikistan and a collection of films from the Tajikfilm studio's golden collection.
