From October 8 to 10, 2025, Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, will host a series of high-level international events. These include a state visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a Central Asia–Russia summit, a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of State, and a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
State visit of the President of Russia
On October 8–9, Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in the Republic of Tajikistan for a state visit. The visit's program includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ismoili Somoni monument, one-on-one and extended talks, and the signing of a number of interstate and intergovernmental documents.
Following the talks, the presidents of Tajikistan and Russia will hold a joint press conference. Vladimir Putin's visit is expected to mark an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and will contribute to the further strengthening of their strategic partnership.
Central Asia–Russia Summit
The second Central Asia–Russia summit will take place in Dushanbe on October 9. The presidents of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia will participate in the event.
The heads of state will discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of multifaceted cooperation, as well as measures to strengthen coordination in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational challenges.
Following the summit, it is planned to adopt a Final Communiqué and a Joint Action Plan aimed at deepening cooperation in the political, economic, and humanitarian spheres.
CIS Heads of State Summit
On October 10, a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS will be held at the Palace of Nations in Dushanbe, chaired by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The event will be attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
CIS leaders will discuss current international and regional issues, including security and stability. Particular attention will be paid to deepening political dialogue, strengthening trade and economic ties, and expanding humanitarian and cultural cooperation within the Commonwealth.
Following the meeting, it is planned to sign a number of documents aimed at further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in a multilateral format.
Meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers
On October 9, a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will also be held in Dushanbe, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin.
The meeting's agenda includes key issues of strengthening multilateral cooperation within the Commonwealth. The heads of the foreign affairs agencies will discuss preparations for the CIS Heads of State Summit and exchange views on pressing international and regional issues, including security, sustainable development, and coordination of actions on international platforms.
