The United States is considering further military strikes against Iran, CBS News reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions within the Trump administration.
According to sources, the issue of conducting a new round of strikes was discussed on Friday, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts with Iran. However, a final decision has not yet been made.
The channel's sources also reported that some Pentagon and US intelligence community officials have cancelled plans for the weekend and Memorial Day, which is celebrated annually in the US on the last Monday in May. They say this is due to the anticipation of possible military action.
Donald Trump previously announced that he would be unable to attend the wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., due to state commitments. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, he noted that he would have liked to be with his son and his future wife, Bettina, but that circumstances required his presence in Washington.
"Circumstances related to government business and my love for the United States of America do not allow me to do this," Trump wrote.
The US President also stressed that he considers it necessary to remain in the capital "at this important time."
Earlier, the Axios portal, citing sources, also reported that the Trump administration is preparing for the possible launch of military strikes against Iran.
