Afghan forces launched a strike on the so-called "nuclear center" in Pakistan, Ariana News reported, citing sources.
According to the channel, the strikes targeted a military center in the Kokal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, as well as another facility, which it described as a "nuclear center." Hundreds of the dead and wounded were reportedly taken to a hospital in Islamabad.
On February 26, Tolo News reported clashes with Pakistani forces in the Afghan border provinces of Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kunar, Khost, Paktia, and Paktika. Clashes also occurred near the Durand Line, the border between the two countries, which is not recognized by Kabul.
On the night of February 27, Taliban authorities in Afghanistan reported a retaliatory strike on Pakistani military positions on both sides of the Durand Line. According to them, 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed.
Pakistani Prime Minister Mosharraf Zaidi, the foreign media spokesman, stated that 133 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and over 200 wounded during the clashes. He added that 27 Afghan Taliban posts were destroyed and another nine were captured.
Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif called the situation an open war between the two sides.
