The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) fined the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) a total of $343,000 for violating regulations during international matches. The AFC Disciplinary Committee's decision was published on October 2-3.
The main reason for the hefty fine of $341,500 was the display of BYD cars as player prizes on the pitch at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent following the Uzbekistan-Qatar match on June 10, 2025. The AFC strictly requires that only the brands of official sponsors of the confederation be displayed on the stadium grounds, including the pitch and its perimeter. Failure to comply with these rules is considered a violation of the AFC's commercial rights.
Additionally, the Uzbekistan Football Association received a fine of $1,500 for the Mirabbor Usmonov Memorial Tournament, which took place from July 22 to 28, 2025. The fine stemmed from the late submission of an application to host an international match, marking the seventh repeated violation of this nature and demonstrating systematic non-compliance with regulations by the UFA. According to the UFA regulations, the Association was found guilty of this violation under Article 11.131.
According to the resolution, all fines must be paid within 30 days from the date of official publication of the Disciplinary Committee's decision.
The AFC reminds that the World Cup qualifiers are held under its auspices, and each host country receives a certain amount of funding from the confederation. Failure to comply with advertising rules and application deadlines directly impacts the rights of official sponsors and the organization of the tournament.
