Since the beginning of this year, 26 traffic accidents involving electric scooter riders have been recorded in Dushanbe. Three people died in the accidents, and another 24 were injured, according to the Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
An analysis of road accidents has shown that the main causes of such accidents are road users' inattention, failure to comply with traffic rules, exceeding the speed limit, driving into oncoming traffic, and minors operating electric scooters.
Of particular concern are cases where teenagers operate electric scooters without adult supervision and without wearing personal protective equipment. Such violations significantly increase the risk of serious consequences for both the riders and other road users.
The Dushanbe Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued an urgent request to citizens, especially parents of teenagers and young adults, to not leave their children unattended and to supervise their use of electric scooters.
The agency also reminded that when operating electric scooters and e-scooters, it is necessary to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, not to drive on the roadway unnecessarily, and to wear protective helmets. Compliance with these requirements is essential for ensuring personal safety and the safety of others.
The Dushanbe Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to conduct preventative measures aimed at reducing the number of accidents involving personal mobility vehicles, including educational programs, patrols, and road traffic inspections.
