Khatlon regional police are urging residents to refrain from traveling in personal or official vehicles to the capital of Tajikistan from October 8 to 12. This was reported by the regional police department's press service.
The restrictions are related to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Dushanbe. To ensure public order and security during the international event, vehicles traveling to the capital without a valid reason will be turned back at Road Patrol Service checkpoints.
"If travel is not urgent or essential, vehicles heading towards Dushanbe will be temporarily stopped and turned back at checkpoints. These measures are aimed at maintaining order and the safety of summit participants," the police press service noted.
Drivers and residents of the Khatlon region are asked to plan their routes in advance and take into account temporary restrictions when organizing travel.
The agency emphasizes that the restrictions are temporary and will only be in effect during the international forum, after which transport to the capital will resume as normal.
