On October 9, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was reported by the press service of the presidential administration.
The head of Tajikistan emphasized that "cooperation with our strategic partner, the Republic of Belarus, is one of the priority areas of Tajikistan's foreign policy, and we are interested in further enriching bilateral relations with new content."
During the meeting, the need to develop interparliamentary cooperation was noted, which will strengthen dialogue and mutual understanding between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
The parties focused on expanding trade, economic, agricultural, and industrial ties. The presidents expressed interest in intensifying the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the Council of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and Belarus, and the Joint Working Group on Developing Investment Partnerships.
In the agricultural sector, issues of increasing the volume of fruit, vegetable, and cotton exports to Belarus, as well as the creation of joint ventures for processing agricultural products, were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties, cooperation in the field of education, and the exchange of experience in training highly qualified personnel.
The parties also exchanged views on cooperation in the healthcare sector, the organization of pharmaceutical production, and ensuring effective training of medical and technical specialists.
In the context of cooperation within international and regional organizations, the presidents noted their mutual support for both countries' initiatives on the global stage, emphasizing the importance of joint action in addressing global challenges and strengthening regional stability.
The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, with the parties expressing their readiness to continue active dialogue and strengthen the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Belarus.
