On the evening of October 15, Russian armed forces launched a massive drone strike on the city of Nizhyn in Ukraine's Chernihiv Oblast. The attacks damaged a residential building, civilian infrastructure, and a Nova Poshta terminal, according to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, on Telegram.
According to preliminary reports from Chaus, two people were injured in the strike. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) also confirmed drone strikes on a logistics facility and a multi-story residential building. The agency preliminarily reports one casualty. The SES published photographs of the aftermath of the strike on Nizhyn on Telegram.
As a reminder, on October 15, emergency power outages were implemented in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of the Donetsk region and part of the Chernihiv region, where hourly outage schedules remained in effect. The reason for this was the "difficult situation" in the country's power grid due to Russian strikes, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy.
Later, the Ukrainian energy company DTEK reported that emergency power outages had been cancelled in Kyiv, Kyiv region, Dnipropetrovsk region, and Odesa region.
The widespread use of drones during the armed conflict remains a key threat to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, including residential buildings, logistics centers, and energy facilities.
