The International Investment Forum "Dushanbe-Invest-2025" took place in Dushanbe, becoming a key platform for promoting green investment, sustainable development, and digital transformation in Central Asia. The forum brought together over 1,500 participants from dozens of countries in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, including representatives of governments, international organizations, financial institutions, and the business community.
The event became an important platform for presenting the investment potential of the Republic of Tajikistan and attracting foreign investment into the country's industrial sector.
In an interview with NIAT Khovar , Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir noted that the forum is a significant step toward sustainable economic development and strengthening international cooperation.
"This forum provides a unique opportunity to discuss issues related to sustainable development, green investments, and digital transformation. We have enormous potential to implement these goals. The Dushanbe-Invest-2025 Forum allows us to showcase Tajikistan's achievements and prospects, as well as open new horizons for international partners," the minister emphasized.
According to Sherali Kabir, the forum's main goal is not only to attract investment but also to create a sustainable economy based on the introduction of modern technologies and the development of key drivers of industrial growth .
"Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon has set us the task of ensuring the implementation of innovations and creating a favorable environment for investors. We are demonstrating the country's competitive advantages, its potential, and its willingness to cooperate with international companies. I am confident that the forum will help attract strategic partners for the implementation of major projects," he noted.
The minister announced that a number of major agreements, particularly in the industrial sector, are planned to be signed during the forum. These include the construction of a tile manufacturing plant , which will reduce imports, which exceed $70 million annually, and create new jobs. Also planned are the construction of a metallurgical plant , aimed at reducing dependence on imported metal products, and a facility for the production of rebar and metal products .
Sherali Kabir emphasized that these projects will form the basis for further growth of industrial production and will serve to strengthen the country's economic independence.
Speaking about natural resources, the minister noted that Tajikistan has rich reserves of water, metals and minerals .
"We are using only 6% of the country's hydroelectric potential, which is estimated at 527 billion kilowatt-hours. Construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, with a capacity of nearly 4 gigawatts—one of the largest in the world—is in its final stages. Furthermore, we have significant reserves of nickel, lithium, copper, and rare earth elements, which are in demand for the transition to a green economy," he emphasized.
The minister also reported that over the past five years , industrial production in Tajikistan has grown by 20% , primarily due to the development of the mining, metallurgy, and textile industries. The National Strategy for Accelerated Industrialization by 2026 plans to double industrial production and create approximately 500,000 new jobs .
Sherali Kabir noted that each investment forum helps attract new partners and implement long-term projects.
"Agreements were signed at previous forums that are now in the active implementation phase. We are confident that the agreements reached this year will be implemented in practice within the next two years," the minister stated.
The rapid growth of the industrial sector, he said, was made possible by the active support of the Government of Tajikistan and the personal involvement of President Emomali Rahmon , who pays special attention to the development of the country's production potential and the training of qualified personnel.
"We train young professionals and attract high-tech companies. This creates new opportunities and strengthens Tajikistan's position in the global supply chain," noted Sherali Kabir.
Speaking about prospects, the minister emphasized that the greatest potential for growth lies in the energy, mining and metal processing industries , as well as the development of environmentally friendly technologies and the green economy .
To attract foreign investment , the Government of Tajikistan provides investors with tax incentives, legal guarantees, and stable conditions for doing business .
"We've passed a number of laws, including a carbon tax, which makes Tajikistan more attractive to investors. Furthermore, thanks to the GSP+ agreement, Tajik products are exported to Europe duty-free. The country is a member of the WTO and the New York Arbitration Convention, which provides additional protection for foreign investors," the minister emphasized.
In the coming years, Tajikistan plans to implement major projects in the energy, mining, and resource processing sectors , which will create new jobs, strengthen its industrial base, and increase the country's competitiveness.
"Our goals are not only economic growth but also the development of a sustainable, modern, and globally integrated industry. Tajikistan is becoming increasingly attractive to international investors every year," concluded Sherali Kabir.
