The Tajik Committee for Religious Affairs reported a case of fraud related to the organization of the Hajj pilgrimage. The case concerns a group of Tajik citizens who found themselves stranded in Saudi Arabia due to the use of false documents.
According to the agency , Tajik citizens contacted the Committee on Religious Affairs and the Embassy of Tajikistan with a request to assist in returning to their homeland.
The Committee's statement noted that the citizens in question were victims of fraud by individuals who promised to help them perform the Hajj, but instead provided them with fake badges and documents.
It is emphasized that such documents have no legal force and cannot guarantee citizens' legal stay in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj period. The Committee also noted that the deadline for processing Hajj documents for the current year has already passed, and after this, no travel companies or intermediaries are authorized to process the necessary documents.
The statement does not specify whether any assistance will be provided to the affected citizens.
At the same time, the Committee strongly recommends that citizens of Tajikistan do not trust false promises regarding the organization of the Hajj and call the helpline 221 83 58 if such situations arise.
Information about the individuals who organized these citizens' travel to Saudi Arabia has not been released at this time. It is also unclear whether they have been detained or prosecuted.
