During his state visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the monument to Ismail Somoni, the founder of the first Tajik state. The ceremony took place at Dusti Square in central Dushanbe.
The Russian head of state was accompanied by Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda and other officials. The ceremony took place in an atmosphere of respect and reverence for the historical heritage of the Tajik people.
After laying the wreath, Vladimir Putin inspected the monument, which is one of the main symbols of Tajik statehood, and spoke with representatives of the official Tajik delegation.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Tajikistan will last from October 8 to 9. The visit includes one-on-one and expanded talks with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, as well as the signing of a number of interstate and intergovernmental documents aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Following the talks, a joint press conference of the leaders of Tajikistan and Russia will be held.
In addition, the Russian leader will participate in the second Central Asia–Russia summit and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will be held in Dushanbe on October 9.
