High-level talks between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations from both countries, according to the press service of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that Russia is one of Tajikistan's key political and economic partners. "Russia is one of Tajikistan's main political and economic partners. We cooperate closely in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, and security areas," Emomali Rahmon stated.
The President of Tajikistan recalled the recent meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, noting that many bilateral issues are being successfully addressed within the framework of this body. "The documents being signed today will give new impetus to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries," Emomali Rahmon added.
The expanded negotiations covered a wide range of issues, from energy, industry, and investment to transport, agriculture, the digital economy, science, education, security, and defense.
The parties paid special attention to the training of highly qualified personnel and specialists, labor migration, and the expansion of cooperation between the regions of Tajikistan and Russia.
Prospects for deepening investment cooperation in the mining and manufacturing industries, including agricultural processing, the development of light and food industries, and the production of building materials, were discussed.
Particular attention is paid to the development of transport and logistics corridors, ensuring the sustainability of supply chains, cooperation in the digital economy, and the implementation of modern technologies.
The effective coordination and cooperation between law enforcement, defense, and special services of the two countries on security matters was noted with satisfaction. Measures to counter terrorism, extremism, and radical ideology, as well as the fight against drug trafficking, cyber threats, and other forms of cross-border crime, were discussed during the talks.
Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the further development of strategic partnership and allied relations between Tajikistan and Russia will serve the interests of the peoples of both countries and strengthen long-term peace, stability, and security in the region.
