On November 27, in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic), the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, participated in and addressed the regular meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the press service of the head of state reported.
The head of our state, Tajikistan's Emomali Rahmon, thanked the head of the host country for creating favorable conditions for the meeting and analyzed the current state and prospects of cooperation within the CSTO.
In particular, it was noted that the CSTO plays an important role in the regional security system and serves the goals of ensuring stability and strengthening the defense capabilities of the countries in the region. "Tajikistan, being at the forefront of the southern direction of collective defense, constantly focuses on strengthening stability and ensuring security in the Organization's Central Asian area of responsibility," the President of the Republic of Tajikistan emphasized.
The head of state, describing the international situation as "complex and difficult to predict," supported the joint measures planned for implementation according to the agenda of the Collective Security Council meeting, including the documents proposed for adoption. Specifically, it was emphasized that Tajikistan supports the adoption of the Plan for the Development of Military Cooperation among CSTO Member States for 2026–2030.
Emomali Rahmon also supported the decision to approve the Anti-Drug Strategy of the CSTO member states for 2026–2030. He also recognized the need to find ways for the CSTO to collaborate with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Anti-Drug Center, which is being established in Dushanbe.
Head of State Emomali Rahmon, also gratefully recalling the previously adopted CSTO Interstate Program for Strengthening the Tajik-Afghan Border, expressed hope for its timely implementation.
The President of our country, emphasizing the importance of establishing the CSTO Humanitarian Response Center in Tajikistan, expressed confidence that this issue will be supported by partners.
Emomali Rahmon paid great attention to issues related to the challenges and threats of the modern world, such as terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
In this regard, the head of our state, recalling the use of cyberspace, including artificial intelligence, by terrorist and extremist groups, emphasized the need for rapid information exchange and the management of these threats using new digital technologies.
In conclusion, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the decisions taken at this summit will actively contribute to strengthening and developing further cooperation between the organization's member states.
Following the summit, the heads of state of the CSTO member states signed a number of new important documents.
