During his state visit to Tajikistan, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rahmon, with a luxuriously designed book on the history of the Tajiks and a painting by Soviet artist Max Birshtein.
An informal meeting between the leaders of Russia and Tajikistan took place at the Iram Botanical Garden (Garden of Eden) in Dushanbe. Earlier, Emomali Rahmon personally greeted Vladimir Putin at the plane's steps, after which the Russian leader laid flowers at the monument to Ismail Somoni, the founder of the Tajik state.
During the meeting, Vladimir Putin presented Emomali Rahmon with the first copy of a book entitled "Tajiks," noting that only 25 copies had been published. According to the Russian president, this is a genuine scholarly work, representing a fundamental summary of the history, anthropology, demography, and ethnography of the Tajik people.
"This also concerns the settlement of Tajiks based on available statistical sources, including the latest census of the Russian Federation," Putin emphasized. He also noted that the book covers the history and current situation of Tajiks, including ethnographic aspects, and described it as a monograph and a scientific study.
Emomali Rahmon expressed admiration for the gift and called it "the most precious" and "the best."
In addition to the book, the Russian president presented Rahmon with the painting "Tajik Friends" by Soviet impressionist artist Max Birshtein, thereby emphasizing the cultural and historical cooperation between the two countries.
