The Palestinian movement Hamas has stated that it intends to continue negotiations on a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, provided that the humanitarian situation in the enclave significantly improves, Interfax reports, citing CNN.
"It is vital to significantly improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation and to receive a written response from the enemy regarding our actions. This is a condition for returning to negotiations," Bassem Naim, a member of the movement's political bureau, told CNN.
He explained that continuing negotiations “in conditions of hunger loses its content and effectiveness.”
Last Thursday, the channel, citing informed sources, reported that Hamas had stopped participating in any discussions about a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
Earlier, the US and Israel withdrew their delegations from the Qatari capital Doha, where the talks were taking place, and US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff accused Hamas of taking a dishonest position.
