The European Commission has proposed to allocate 100 billion euros to Ukraine from the long-term budget of the European Union for 2028-2034. This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a briefing in Brussels on July 16, presenting the draft financial plan.
According to her, the proposed fund is aimed at supporting the restoration of Ukraine, strengthening its resilience , and promoting integration into the EU .
"The existing aid fund for Ukraine, budgeted until 2027, amounts to 50 billion euros, and it is gradually being exhausted. The new amount of 100 billion is intended to provide long-term support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing aggression," von der Leyen emphasized.
The total EU budget for 2028-2034 is proposed at €1.816 trillion , which is 1.26% of the EU's gross national income , up from the current 1.1%.
The draft budget will be discussed between EU member states and the European Parliament over the next two years. The final decision on the distribution of funds will be taken by the EU Council after all budget parameters have been agreed upon.
