On October 14, a delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan met with Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., as part of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Tajik delegation was headed by Finance Minister Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda.
During the talks, the parties gave a positive assessment of the current level of cooperation between Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund, noting the successful implementation of the Policy Coordination Program in the country and its significant contribution to strengthening the economic partnership.
Prospects for further cooperation were discussed, including continuing structural reforms, expanding the digitalization of the financial system, enhancing institutional capacity, and developing technical support mechanisms from the IMF.
The Tajik side also proposed considering the possibility of attracting concessional financing through the Resilience and Recovery Fund, which is designed to support economic stability and stimulate sustainable growth.
Following the meeting, the participants emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation in public finance management, improving the investment climate, and expanding technical assistance. Furthermore, the parties discussed the possibility of Tajikistan's future transition to a full-fledged International Monetary Fund financial program.
