The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, took part in the fourth meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of Central Asia and India, which took place on June 6 in New Delhi as part of the multilateral Dialogue "Central Asia – India". This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, Mukhriddin presented a number of initiatives aimed at developing transport connectivity, strengthening cooperation in ensuring food and energy security, as well as in the areas of tourism, education, healthcare, digitalization, culture, industry and training of qualified personnel.
The head of the Tajik Foreign Ministry also emphasized the need for more effective use of existing mechanisms of interaction between the Dialogue participating states.
The ministers discussed a wide range of issues related to the expansion of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the political, economic, trade, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Particular attention was paid to ensuring regional security, combating terrorism and extremism, as well as cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and the development of critical minerals.
One of the key aspects of the discussion was the prospects for intensifying trade and economic ties. In this context, the meeting participants noted the strategic importance of the port of Chabahar, which can play an important role in ensuring the exit of goods from Central Asian countries to the Indian and international markets. The potential of the international transport corridor "North-South" as a tool for strengthening regional integration was also considered.
The parties expressed interest in attracting investment in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, information technology and major infrastructure projects. Cultural exchange and the implementation of humanitarian initiatives were recognized as important elements in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.
Following the meeting, a Joint Statement was signed, reflecting a common desire to further deepen the partnership in the interests of sustainable development and security in the region.
