The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting at the Palace of the Nation with the heads of delegations who arrived to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was reported by the press service of the head of state.
At the beginning of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon warmly welcomed those gathered and noted the high importance of coordinated actions of the special services and security agencies of the CIS countries in the context of the continuing instability of the international situation. The President emphasized that today the regional security system faces increasing challenges and threats.
“In today’s reality, we are seeing an increase in risks associated with international terrorism, extremism, radicalism, transnational organized crime, drug and arms smuggling, and cybercrime,” Emomali Rahmon noted.



The President of Tajikistan particularly drew attention to the growing relevance of cyber threats and the need to further strengthen interdepartmental cooperation among the CIS countries to counter this phenomenon. The priority areas also include combating the spread of the ideology of violence and radicalism in the information space, strengthening measures to counter the drug threat and illegal arms trafficking.
Speaking about Tajikistan’s contribution to the common cause of ensuring security, Emomali Rahmon recalled the national strategies developed and adopted in the country to combat terrorism and extremism, developed within the framework of the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
According to him, Tajikistan attaches primary importance to issues of strengthening practical cooperation between special services and continuing constructive dialogue within the framework of the Dushanbe Process on Combating Terrorism and Extremism, which has already proven itself as an effective mechanism for interaction in the CIS.
At the end of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence in the further strengthening of partnership between the CIS countries in order to effectively counter threats to international and regional security.
