On June 1, 2026, a scientific conference dedicated to the Declaration of Cyrus the Great was held at UNESCO headquarters, entitled “Foundations of Modern Human Rights and Cultural Diversity in the Declaration of Cyrus the Great,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.
This conference was dedicated to the UNESCO Declaration entitled “The Pillars of Cyrus: Fundamental Declaration on Human Rights and Cultural Diversity”, as well as in connection with the proclamation by the UN of “2027 as the International Year of Legal Literacy”, which was adopted and proclaimed in 2025.
Representatives of UNESCO Member States, Russian and international scholars, and experts participated in the conference. The event discussed the historical significance of the Cyrus Declaration as a fundamental document in the areas of human rights, religious tolerance, and cultural diversity, as well as its relevance in the modern world.
