A new electronic permit system (Electronic Permit System) and a centralized payment platform have been launched in Tajikistan. These systems are designed to digitalize the process of issuing and exchanging transport permits, according to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, the new electronic permitting system and centralized billing platform were implemented with the support of the European Union and the German government. Their launch is seen as an important step toward improving the efficiency, transparency, and safety of transport services.
As part of the new system's implementation, the transport ministers of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan officially signed an agreement on the exchange of electronic permits (ePermits). In the first days after the digital mechanism's launch, Tajikistan sent the first 100 ePermits to Uzbekistan.
The electronic permitting system and centralized settlement platform were modernized as part of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Capacity Development Program, funded by the European Union and the German Government. The program is being implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The new digital platform provides transport companies with a secure and integrated environment for submitting group applications, managing the distribution and use of permits, and promotes greater efficiency and transparency in financial transactions.
The centralized settlement system is integrated with banking systems and mobile payment services. This enables online transaction verification, automatic data reconciliation, and ensures financial transparency thanks to modern information security mechanisms.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that the implementation of the new system has significantly reduced the time required to obtain transport permits. This is expected to contribute to the further digitalization of the transport industry and facilitate international freight shipping.
