Law enforcement officials are investigating two cases of suspected fraud involving significant financial damage, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the department, citizen Tokhirzoda Sh. T. contacted the Sino District Department of Internal Affairs No. 2 with a statement that in April 2026, a resident of the Rudaki District, Pirmahmadov N. N., born in 2001, abused his trust and received from him four cars of various brands with a total value of 632 thousand somoni.
According to the case file, the suspect promised to pay for the vehicles promptly, but failed to fulfill his obligations and subsequently disposed of the property at his own discretion.
In addition, during the course of operational investigative activities, police officers established another instance of suspected fraud.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on January 10, 2025, Isoev S.A., a resident of the city of Istaravshan, born in 1976, fraudulently took possession of funds from Saidov R.S., a resident of Dushanbe, born in 1993, in the amount of 440 thousand somoni.
According to investigators, the suspect received the specified sum under the pretext of constructing and launching a paper mill in Uzbekistan, after which he used the funds for personal purposes.
A preliminary investigation is being conducted into both incidents.
CIS countries confirmed their readiness to cooperate to prevent an arms race in space.
A regular meeting of the Joint Consultative Commission on Disarmament Issues was held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on June 1. Representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee participated in the meeting, the CIS press service reported.
The main topic of discussion was the issue of preventing an arms race in outer space.
During the meeting, participants confirmed the readiness of CIS member states to continue cooperation on preventing an arms race in space. The parties expressed their intention to continue coordinating common approaches and to develop and implement joint initiatives on this topic.
Following the meeting, the Commonwealth states' interest in further cooperation on disarmament and international security issues was confirmed.
The next meeting of the Joint Consultative Commission on Disarmament Issues is scheduled to be held in December 2026 in Moscow.
