A regular meeting of the Joint Consultative Commission on Disarmament Issues was held at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on June 1. Representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the CIS Executive Committee participated in the meeting, the CIS press service reported.
The main topic of discussion was the issue of preventing an arms race in outer space.
During the meeting, participants confirmed the readiness of CIS member states to continue cooperation on preventing an arms race in space. The parties expressed their intention to continue coordinating common approaches and to develop and implement joint initiatives on this topic.
Following the meeting, the Commonwealth states' interest in further cooperation on disarmament and international security issues was confirmed.
The next meeting of the Joint Consultative Commission on Disarmament Issues is scheduled to be held in December 2026 in Moscow.
