On June 1, heavy rainfall caused a mudflow at kilometers 138–143 of the Dushanbe-Chanak highway in the Ayni district. Equipment and specialists from the Tajikistan branch of Innovative Road Solutions Ltd. were quickly dispatched to the scene to mitigate the aftermath of the disaster.
According to the company, the mudflow's aftermath was quickly addressed, after which traffic on the section of road was fully restored. There were no casualties or material damage as a result of the incident.
The company noted that in recent days, intense precipitation across the country, particularly along the Dushanbe-Chanak route, has caused mudflows, rockfalls, road subsidence, and landslides. The most severe consequences of the natural disasters were recorded in the Varzob district and the Zeravshan Valley.
To quickly address the consequences of natural disasters, the branch's employees used available technical and material resources. According to the company, such natural disasters have occurred regularly in recent years and have had a significant impact on the Dushanbe-Chanak highway.
Mudflows, rockfalls, and other natural disasters damaged dozens of kilometers of the highway, necessitating major repairs on significant sections. The company emphasized that many damaged sections essentially require new construction.
The branch's management constantly monitors the road's condition and takes immediate action to address even minor damage. The volume of work performed remains significant—approximately 50,000 tons of asphalt are used annually for road maintenance and restoration.
