The Russian army launched one of the most massive attacks on Ukraine since the full-scale war. The strikes killed and wounded dozens of people. The main targets were Kyiv and the Dnipro river. The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the war had entered a "new phase."

On the night of Tuesday, June 2, Russian forces launched one of the most massive attacks of the full-scale war against Ukraine. According to a Ukrainian Air Force report on Telegram, 729 air strikes were recorded—73 missiles and 656 UAVs of various types.

Among them: eight 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles, 33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles, five Kalibr cruise missiles, Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas drones, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya drone simulators. The Russian army carried out the launches from several Russian regions and annexed Crimea.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 642 targets were destroyed by air defense systems: 40 missiles and 602 drones.

"The impact of 30 ballistic missiles, 3 cruise missiles, and 33 attack UAVs was recorded in 38 locations, as well as the fall of debris from downed UAVs in 15 locations," the report said.

At least 22 people have died in Kyiv and Dnipro, and more than a hundred have been injured across the country.

According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, six people were killed and 79 were injured as a result of the Russian attack in Kyiv.

“Unfortunately, these figures may not be final,” he noted.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, 40 people were hospitalized, including three children. Power outages were reported in three districts of the city.

Timur Tkachenko previously reported that debris from a downed missile fell on the roof of a residential building in the Podolsk district of the capital, causing a fire and shattering windows. After a second strike, preliminary reports indicate a partial collapse of the structure.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, debris struck a 24-story residential building, starting a fire. A fire also broke out in a 24-story building in the Solomenskyi district after falling debris.

In the city of Dnipro, a Russian attack killed 16 people, including a 73-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy. Forty-two people were injured, 24 of whom remain hospitalized, including four children, according to regional military administration head Oleksandr Ganzha.

"Rescuers recovered the bodies of a woman and an 8-year-old boy from the rubble of a destroyed four-story building in Dnipro," he wrote on Telegram.

According to the head of the administration, one of the strikes hit a residential area, causing a fire. The victims suffered shrapnel wounds, fractures, lacerations, cuts, mine blast injuries, and acupuncture.

As a result of shelling in two districts of Kharkiv, 15 people were injured, including an 11-year-old girl, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov reported on Telegram.

The Sumy and Zaporizhia regions were also hit, with residential buildings damaged. At least three people were injured in the Zaporizhia region. According to preliminary reports, there are no fatalities or injuries in Sumy.

Authorities in Ukrainian cities continue to record falling missile and drone debris, as well as instances of them striking various objects. Information on casualties and damage is being clarified.

Zelensky warned of a massive attack

On the evening of June 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the recent attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the city of Starobilsk in the annexed Luhansk region gave the war a "new quality."

According to occupation authorities, the strike partially destroyed the buildings of a local college and resulted in the death of 21 students.

On the evening of June 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of the possibility of a new massive Russian strike on the country's cities.

On the night of May 24, the Russian army launched a major strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region. During this attack, Russia used an Oreshnik-type missile for the third time. Two people were killed and 80 others were injured.
