Sughd Region Governor Rajab Akhmadzoda met with the winners and runners-up of the Asian Junior Boxing Championships, according to the regional administration's press service.
As noted during the meeting, Tajik boxers won four medals at the Asian Boxing Championships for athletes under 17 years of age, which was held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.
Behruz Umarov, competing in the 54-kilogram weight class, and Anushervon Sidikov, competing in the 46-kilogram weight class, won gold medals. Bronze medals were won by Muhammadjon Sulaimanov in the 58-kilogram weight class and Azizahon Bobojanova in the 52-kilogram weight class.
Congratulating the athletes on their achievements, the regional chairman emphasized that their success is the result of state policy supporting sports and a constant focus on raising a healthy generation.
During the meeting, it was also noted that specific measures will be taken to develop boxing in the Sughd Region. With the support of the regional executive authority and the Sughd Region Boxing Federation, plans are underway to strengthen the material and technical infrastructure, improve training and competition conditions, and create additional opportunities for the development of talented athletes.
At the end of the event, the athletes were presented with commemorative gifts.
