The International Tourism Forum and Exhibition "Khatlon – Land of Civilizations and Tourism" will be held on June 4–5, 2026, in the village of Childukhtaron, Muminabad District. This was announced by the Executive Authority of the Khatlon Region.
Representatives from more than 20 countries are expected to attend the event, including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, the People's Republic of China, Turkey, Iran, and other countries. Representatives of tourism companies, investors, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, development partners, and media representatives have been invited to the forum.
During the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the ancient crafts of the Tajik people, including chakan embroidery, pottery, gold embroidery, artistic carving, and other traditional folk crafts. The organizers note that folk crafts are a key area for the development of the tourism industry.
The forum will discuss current tourism development issues, prospects for cooperation, and new investment opportunities. Key elements of the program will include international panel discussions, during which specialists and experts will explore current industry trends, including the development of digital tourism and the application of artificial intelligence technologies.
The program also includes B2B business meetings aimed at establishing new partnerships and attracting investment. Company representatives will have the opportunity to present their projects and discuss promising areas of cooperation.
According to organizers, 1,647,000 tourists visited Khatlon Region in 2025. This figure, they note, demonstrates growing interest in the region and the consistent development of the tourism industry.
Tourism development has a positive impact on the region's economy. Increased tourist flow drives demand for hotel services, transportation, the service sector, handicrafts, and other economic sectors. Furthermore, new jobs are created and entrepreneurial opportunities expand.
Organizers believe the International Tourism Forum and Exhibition "Khatlon – Land of Civilizations and Tourism" could be an important step toward transforming Tajikistan into one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Central Asia.
It is noted that the event will showcase to the international community not only the tourism potential of the Khatlon region but also the capabilities of the entire country.
