Tajikistan and Pakistan have established a joint commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation. The decision was made following the 8th meeting of the Joint Commission, which took place on June 2–3 in Dushanbe, according to the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
The meeting was chaired by the commission's co-chairs, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma and Federal Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari. Extensive delegations from both countries participated in the meeting.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding. The parties discussed bilateral economic cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, energy, education, banking, science and technology, tourism, youth policy, sports, transport, and communications.


The meeting participants emphasized that friendly relations and fruitful cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan, supported by the political will of the two countries' top leadership, have shown positive development trends in recent years. Significant opportunities for further expansion of economic and trade ties were also noted.
According to data presented during the meeting, foreign trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan amounted to USD 43 million in 2025. In January–March 2026, this figure reached USD 8.9 million.
The parties considered it important to increase the volume of mutual trade and emphasized the need to strengthen trade and economic cooperation, find new areas for the development of bilateral trade, diversify the range of export-import goods, and increase the level of direct interaction between the business and investment communities of the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to the regional CASA-1000 electricity transmission project, the importance of which for the development of cooperation between states in the energy sector was separately noted.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the results achieved and emphasized that the implementation of the decisions taken will create a favorable basis for further strengthening friendly relations and mutually beneficial partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
At the end of the meeting, the co-chairs signed the Protocol of the 8th meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
